Well let’s start things off my talking a bit about UV Gel Nail treatments.

Gel Polish is ideal for those ladies(and gents) who like to have a perfect manicure or pedicure but have neither the time nor the spare cash to do it every week or so. In comes the Gel Polish.

So what is it? Well it is a nail polish made in a gel like consistency which, although it may vary from product to product, is applied like normal nail varnish (generally a base, 2 coats of the colour and a top coat/seal. In between each step the gel is "cured" underneath a UV lamp for 2-3 minutes and then viola!

There are so many plus points to this treatment it makes it hard to understand why it isn’t as popular as it should be. Unlike Acrylic, Gel polish doesn’t have a strong, overpowering chemical smell. Major advantages over having a Gel polish treatment compare to a normal nail polish is that its non-chip lasts for 2-3 weeks, and... IT DRIES INSTANTLY!! That’s right, no more smudges after reaching for your mobile at the bottom of your bag.

Many reputable companies have been making Gel Polish for many years; some are new to the game.

The "old school" method of removal was to have the Gel buffed off of the nail which caused quite a bit of dust and was also time consuming for the client and the nail technician. So the new method of removing consists of the client having the gel “soaked off" in acetone. Sounds scary but its not, I promise. The Gel simply melts away from the nail leaving no damage behind whatsoever. Any residue can be removed gently with an orange stick.

So, if after reading this your interested in trying out the treatment for yourself then here is some contacts to help you find the nearest available place for your treatment or why not ask at you local salon if they offer the treatment.

Bio Sculpture - Available is 90 colours as well as French. Tends to last for 2- 3 weeks and simply removed buy soaking for 15 minutes. Use the site to find your nearest treatment location.

Nails Inc. - Why not try the “3 Week Manicure", does exactly what it says on the tin! Check out the website for your nearest branch. Yes it is a bit pricey at £50 a pop but they do a brilliant Loyalty Card where you pay for 3 treatments and the soak off removal comes half price! So that £180 (£60 for 4 treatments) instead of £210. Great saving.
